Extension requests

There is a two year window to complete the accreditation process (and five years to re-accredit). In exceptional circumstances or for those who work part-time, candidates may request an extension to their case collection and submission deadline.

1. Extenuating circumstances

To ensure the accreditation process remains fair and robust, extensions to logbook collection periods will generally only be given in the following circumstances:

  • parental leave
  • ill health of candidate or a dependent
  • secondment

Applications must be accompanied by supporting information, such as a letter from your line manager or a healthcare provider. Applications cannot be considered without this information.

Please complete the extension request form to request an extension to your case collection deadline. This form is used for all accreditation types and for re-accreditation. Extension requests incur an administration fee of £100, which cannot be refunded if the request is denied. Please note that extensions are not guaranteed, and only in exceptional circumstances will a second extension be granted after a discussion with the chair of accreditation. Extension requests must be made at least 12 weeks before the existing deadline.
