Level 3 accreditation pathway

The proposed accreditation pathway will support the development of the physiologist / scientist to run clinics independently.

  1. A logbook of 60 cases to demonstrate competence in diagnosing pathology relevant to the physiologist / scientist-led clinic, performing a clinical assessment for signs and symptom development, and initiate a management plan
  2. Submission of a competency portfolio evidencing the candidate's ability to work in accordance with the four pillars of advance practice frameworks / guidance relevant to the candidate’s area of advanced clinical practice
    1. Standard Operating Procedure from the candidate's department detailing the scope of the physiologist / scientist-led clinic
    2. Evidence of completion of clinical assessment course (level 7)
    3. Evidence of working across the four pillars of advanced clinical practice.
  3. Practical assessment:
    1. Three viva patient case studies brought by the candidate and one viva patient case prepared by BSE assessing candidates' ability to:
      1. Identify and diagnose pathologies using echocardiography
      2. Clinically assess a patient (symptoms and signs)
      3. Initiate an appropriate management plan
