#MyBSE | Trustees’ Week 2022

Published 08/11/2022

There are nearly a million trustees across the UK who give so much of their time to ensure charities thrive and make society better. That’s why Professor Martin Stout, Consultant Cardiac Physiologist at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust and Vice President of the British Society of Echocardiography (BSE), is celebrating Trustees’ Week 2022 from Monday 7 - Friday 11 November.

At the British Society of Echocardiography we are very lucky to have a dedicated, caring and professional group of trustees who sacrifice huge amounts of their own time to ensure that the members of the BSE are supported to deliver the best care for their patients.

The level of commitment involved as a trustee of the society often goes un-noticed. There are of course, regular meetings which are often in the evenings, outside of working hours. There are many requests to approve detailed documents and proposals and last-minute meetings to attend in order for important decisions to be made with respect to echocardiography in the UK. Each trustee has their own workload relating to Society business and management on top of their clinical roles and this dedication should not be forgotten or taken for granted.

To get a sense of the breadth of the work carried out by the trustees please read our Trustees' Annual Report, published today. The trustees are committed to using the Society’s resources to benefit the membership and this report should give you a sense of what was achieved in the last financial year.

From a personal point of view, I would like to thank all past and current trustees for their incredible hard work, for caring so much about our membership and the patients we see everyday and finally, for caring so much about the BSE and our wider community.

I am sure that our membership would also like to show their appreciation for all this hard work. So, please remember our dedicated trustees for a moment this week; let’s not let all their hard work and dedication go un-noticed.
