In response to feedback from members, the British Society of Echocardiography (BSE) is delighted to introduce a group of International Representatives to represent our community worldwide and support those transitioning to UK career pathways.
These Representatives, who have experience of training and working in many countries, will join the Regional Representatives Network, hoping to provide assistance relating to UK practice, including accreditation, and facilitate the exchange of knowledge.
We know that many of our international members wish to join the UK workforce and recognised that there was a need for a tailored point of support to help them flourish. The idea was initially proposed by Mr Stephen Qadir (who wrote about his experiences on our blog last year) and we were delighted that so many other colleagues wanted to sign up to and support our global members.
We are pleased to announce that the following echocardiographers have been appointed as International Representatives:
- Mr Stephen Qadir, Lead ACHD Echo Physiologist at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital
- Ms Karthika Bindhu, Chief Cardiac Physiologist and Lead for Education and Training, Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals
- Mr Shivendra Kumar, Chief Cardiac Physiologist, London North West Healthcare NHS Trust
- Ms Mathuri Partheban, Specialist Cardiac Physiologist and Cardiac Clinical Scientist at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust
- Mr Prashanth Gunasekar, Highly Specialized Cardiac Physiologist at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
- Dr Mathias Akinlade, Consultant Cardiologist and Imaging Specialist at NHS Fife
For further information, look out for our forthcoming series of introductory blogs, where you will find out what they each hope to bring to the role.
