Changes to membership fee structure

Over the past 12 months the British Society of Echocardiography has been reviewing its internal processes, the way it delivers its core services and the infrastructure it requires in order to do this effectively. We want to ensure we are offering the best service and benefits to our membership. We are recognised as having a world-leading accreditation programme and our education events are highly regarded and face growing demand. We therefore need to ensure we have the resources required to deliver and sustain these programmes.

Through this review it has become clear that the BSE is unable to continue to operate within its historic budget. The organisation's infrastructure and internal resource has not kept pace with the growth in our core services.

Since our establishment, we have run with a single-tiered membership structure, with everyone paying the same fee, and increases in fees have been rare and minimal. As part of this review process we have benchmarked the BSE against other similar societies and recognised that our current annual fee does not reflect the value of BSE membership and the single-tiered structure could be deemed unfair to pre-accreditation trainees.

We have therefore reached the decision that from Wednesday 1 April 2020 the British Society of Echocardiography annual membership fee structure will adjust to:

  • Pre-accreditation membership: £70
  • Standard membership: £100
  • Retired membership: £35
  • Fellowship: £150

If you already pay by Direct Debit, your subscription fee will be automatically processed on Wednesday 1 April 2020.

If you pay by standing order, you will need to amend the amount you need to pay via your bank by the Wednesday 1 April 2020. Once payment has been made, please email [email protected] with the subject heading Standing order payment and giving your name and membership ID number.

Payment by card will be available via your profile on the website on your renewal date.

Our new system will update your membership status on the Wednesday 1 April 2020. Please ensure you renew by that date to maintain your accreditation.
