#MyBSEcho2022 | ‘Nothing can replace the buzz’

Published 13/07/2022

Mr Ivo Andrade, Cardiac Physiologist and Education Lead for Adult Echocardiography at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, shares what he’s most looking forward to at BSEcho 2022.

After a long couple of years, BSEcho 2022 is a great opportunity to go back to in-person events.

Whilst we all got used to Teams and Zoom and muting our mics (for the most part), nothing can replace the buzz of getting the best educators, investigators and friends under the same roof!

Whether you are thinking of starting a career in echocardiography and want to learn about the resources available to you as a trainee (look out for the session on regional reps, in which you’ll learn about the incredible network of echocardiographers across the UK that are there to support you), working on your logbook (all the national leads for the assessment will be on site! Ask them some questions!), trying to brush up on your skills (Dr Lloyd’s talk on MV disease assessment using stress echo and the strain guidelines session are on my list) or want to take the next step and set up a scientist/physiologist led service, there will be something in it for you!

Personally, I am keen to hear the updates on ‘Echocardiography in cardiac muscle disease’ and am delighted to get the opportunity to learn more about imaging in heart failure from Professor Smiseth, a real treat for the cardio-nerds!

Make the most of it, enjoy and see you in London.
