Welcome to the start of your journey through BSEcho 2021, our second fully virtual annual conference.

Now, more than ever, it's vital that we come together as a profession and I hope that this, our 30th anniversary year conference, will allow just that.

Our profession and our allied medical colleagues have worked under unimaginable pressure over the last twelve months. As a Society and a membership we have emerged with a period of recovery in front of us, but also an appetite to maximise patient safety and service as the NHS hauls itself upright once again.

I am extremely proud of the effort made over the last year by our executive, council, committees and administration team to provide quick and accessible guidance to help everyone at the coal face trying to keep working for patients. I really hope that you found this useful and supportive.

Following the success of BSEcho 2020, our first virtual conference and our best attended conference to date, we have decided to use a virtual format once again for our 30th year. This will avoid any last minute travel disruption and also recognises that getting study leave to attend a conference is harder than ever this year.

We are keenly aware that networking and meeting other members of our Society is a key part of an annual conference. We're keen to emphasise that this is not a webinar, but a conference with social and networking opportunities built in.

Alongside world-class educational content offering live Q+A interaction and the ability to create your own individualised conference experience, we will also have access to:

  • Peer to peer video networking
  • Abstract and poster presentations and
  • Direct conversation with industry partners

You will find further information in our FAQs, so take a look. Our team are on hand to make sure you have the best conference experience possible, so if you have a question which is not covered there, please get in touch.

I look forward to connecting with you virtually, including at our now famous virtual conference disco…

Best wishes,

Dr Claire Colebourn
