Transthoracic (TTE) accreditation

TTE level 2 accreditation is available to all society members regardless of occupation and provides a structured framework to assist the echocardiographer in training. The accreditation process includes both written and practical sections and following successful completion, accreditation is valid for five years.

The written section, which is held twice a year in local centres, has both theory and case reporting sections, and tests a candidate's underpinning knowledge of echocardiography, basic cardiology and ultrasound physics.

The practical section is held five times a year in cardiology departments around the UK. It comprises three assessment stations to assess the logbook submission, practical assessment of scanning ability on a normal volunteer, and a viva assessment of five video cases and reports.

Further details of the requirements to successfully complete accreditation can be found in the accreditation pack.
