Transthoracic (TTE) accreditation

TTE level 2 accreditation is available to all society members regardless of occupation and provides a structured framework to assist the echocardiographer in training. The accreditation process includes both written and practical sections.

Candidates will need to find a mentor to guide them through the process, they do not need to be BSE accredited. For more information on mentors, see the accreditation pack.

Written Exam

  • The exam will be held at Pearson Vue test centres across the UK, Republic of Ireland and some overseas locations.
  • It consists of 2 parts, an MCQ theory section and an image reporting section. You must pass both parts to pass the overall exam.

Practical Exam

  • The candidate will be required to collect 250 logbook cases before registering for the exam, then on the day the exam consists of a practical scanning assessment and a viva assessment of five patient case studies.

Following successful completion, accreditation is valid for five years.
